Scott A. Foster
Scott Foster was the driving force behind the
creation of Denfeld High School, and served
as its first principal.
In 1904, Foster was hired as principle at Irving
Elementary School. He pushed for a high school to be opened there,
and succeeded when the Duluth Industrial High School opened in 1905.
In1915, the Duluth Industrial High School moved
into a new building on Central Avenue, and was renamed Denfeld High
School. Foster stayed on as principle for one more year, retiring
in 1916.
The graduating class of 1917 wrote that "all
organizations have have received his hearty support and the school
is entering a bright period of its history through his effort. It
is hoped that Denfeld in its successful future will not forget the
true friendship Mr. Foster has shown."
