Lawrence Bernard

An all-conference halfback in football, a forward in basketball and captain of the track team, Lawrence Bernard was an outstanding all-around athlete.

He graduated with the class of 1924, one that left a great football legacy at Denfeld. In 1921 the team played for the region championship. In 1922 it went 5-2-1 and played for the state championship. In Bernard's senior year, the Hunters had one of its most outstanding seasons ever. The team went 7-1, outscoring opponents 275-16.

Bernard was named by coach Walt Hunting to his “Dream Team” in the mid-1950s.
